Art Bracelets

I have finally found a solid reason to support my hobby of thrifting and antiquing. Since last year I have been hunting down unique, old frames to put some of my artwork in. Quickly I started noticing some really beautiful mini frames. Some have interesting designs that inform what kind of pattern or color I add to the artwork. On one of those hunts, I noticed a kid watch and thought ‘Well, this is also kind of a mini frame’. It wasn’t in particularly good shape, but I was drawn to its small scale and red color band. When we got home, I took it apart and made a tiny template for a tiny painting: A landscape from a photo I took on one of my favorite trips to Spain a few years ago. Carefully, the watch was reassembled, replacing the gear with a mini painting. I loved being able to wear it. Being on the wrist, I caught myself looking at it for the time, but seeing the painting instead, made me less focused on time and more present in the moment. It was a welcome reminder and intention, so I started making more. Now looking for good quality bands, interesting shape of the frame, and good color themes. I invested in some gorgeous bands and got to painting. Each of the art bracelets has a unique, original, gouache painting made specifically for that band, and has been sprayed with an UV archival varnish to preserve the artwork. A selection will be available to purchase at a local gallery shop soon. Details to come…
